Lawn Aerations

Lawn aeration is a process that helps to improve the overall health and appearance of your lawn. By removing small plugs of soil from the lawn, it allows air, water, and nutrients to reach the roots of the grass plants. This service is typically recommended every year or two for lawns that are in good condition.

  • Breaks up compacted soil
  • Improved thatch decomposition
  • Improved nutrient, air and moisture content

Lawn aeration is a process that helps to improve the health and appearance of your lawn by increasing air circulation and water penetration. It also helps to break up compaction in the soil, which can inhibit the growth of grass. By having your lawn aerated on a regular basis (once per year or so), you can keep it looking healthy and lush all season long. Β

‍

JC Landscapes offers aeration services in Spring and in Fall, which are the best times to perform the service in our area. Aerations are best performed during the growing season to reduce visible stress and allow the grass to fill in quickly, and offers a great opportunity for seeding services as well.

About the service

Spring Aeration

Lawn aeration is one of the most important lawn care services that you can provide for your lawn in the spring. Aerating your lawn helps to improve drainage, reduce compaction, and improve the overall health of your lawn early in the season so you can get off on the right foot. Aerating your lawn also helps to reduce water consumption and improve the effectiveness of lawn fertilizers so you can reduce your input and get more bang for your buck!

Fall Aeration

Lawn aeration is also important in the fall, as it helps to prepare your lawn for the winter months. Lawn aeration helps to break up the thatch layer that can build up over time, and the increased airflow can actually help it to break down faster into the soil! Fall is also a great time to take care of any seeding you would like to do for the next year. JC uses drought-tolerant seed blends that germinate quickly when watered properly. This will help your seed to germinate, fill in, and mature before it's first summer heat so you can enjoy your lawn to the fullest and get the best results from your investment.

Frequently Asked

Collection of questions our clients ask us most frequently

Should I rake up the cores when you're done aerating?

You can, but there is some benefit to leaving them on the lawn. Organic matter held in the cores will break down and return to the soil, contributing to the overall fertility of the lawn.

Can I mow after you aerate and overseed?

Sure! The seed isn't going anywhere until it germinates, so consider allowing a day or so for the seed to fall to the soil level naturally and watering first to help hold the seed in place while you maintain the rest of your lawn. The existing grass may help to keep the seed in place, but leaving you grass clippings instead of bagging them may prevent seed loss and damage as well.
